Job summary

Lauriston Girls' School seeks an accomplished Language educator to serve as Head of Faculty – Languages, commencing January 2027. The role leads a Prep–Year 12 Languages faculty and oversees curriculum, teaching and operational excellence across Chinese, French, Latin and Spanish.

The Head champions language learning, fosters collaboration among staff, and develops opportunities for language exchanges and cultural programs to enrich student learning.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Education with a specialization in one or more Languages.
• Experience leading a Languages curriculum and faculty across Prep–Year 12.
• Ability to foster collaboration and professional growth among language teachers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a collaborative Prep–Year 12 Languages faculty (Chinese, French, Latin, Spanish).
• Oversee curriculum, teaching and operational excellence across Languages programs.
• Create authentic language and cultural experiences through exchanges and partnerships.

Reportingto the Deputy Head of Senior School – Academic Excellence andGrowth, the Head of Faculty – Languages leads a collaborativePrep–Year 12 faculty and oversees curriculum, teaching andoperational excellence across Lauriston’s Languages programs:Chinese, French, Latin and Spanish. A key priority of the role isto create a purposeful and connected learning journey that developslinguistic proficiency, intercultural understanding and curiosityabout the world, with clear progression across year levels andstrong pathways into senior Languages study. The Head of Facultychampions Languages across the School, supports teachers to shareexpertise and strengthen practice, and fosters a culture ofcontinuous improvement and innovation. The role also createsauthentic opportunities for students to engage with language andculture through exchanges, immersion experiences, cultural programsand strategic partnerships that enrich learning and bring languagesto life.
