As TAL continues its transition from legacy platforms and data centre dependencies to reusable cloud-native services, the role will drive application simplification, cloud modernisation and effective platform ownership, while ensuring operational readiness, risk and dependencies are carefully managed. Ultimately, this role will help create a simpler, more resilient technology environment with clearer accountability, stronger execution and measurable business value.

  • Enterprise Applications Strategy: Define and lead the enterprise applications strategy and simplification roadmap, aligning investment and delivery priorities to TAL’s strategic objectives, technology roadmap and transformation agenda.
  • Application Simplification & Modernisation: Drive the simplification of TAL’s application landscape by reducing legacy dependencies, duplicated capability, manual effort, technology complexity, cost and operational risk.
  • Enterprise Platform Delivery: Lead delivery across critical enterprise platforms, ensuring initiatives achieve agreed business outcomes and are delivered effectively across scope, time, budget, quality and risk.
  • Cloud Modernisation & Migration: Lead application readiness for cloud migration and data centre exit, working across Technology, Architecture, Cyber, Risk and delivery partners to manage sequencing, dependencies, resilience and operational readiness.
  • Application Ownership & Estate Management: Strengthen application ownership and improve the quality and visibility of application estate data to support informed investment, lifecycle, consolidation, migration and decommissioning decisions.
  • Governance, Risk & Delivery Assurance: Establish strong governance and provide executive-level visibility of delivery progress, investment, risks, dependencies and outcomes, ensuring change is aligned to TAL’s risk, cyber, resilience and architecture requirements.
  • Stakeholder, Partner & People Leadership: Build strong partnerships across business and technology, lead and coach high-performing teams, and manage strategic vendors and delivery partners to drive accountability, collaboration, commercial discipline and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science, engineering, business or a related discipline.
  • Project, program, product, agile, cloud, architecture, technology risk or service management qualifications are desirable.
  • Vendor, commercial, change management or transformation delivery certifications are desirable.
  • Significant enterprise applications leadership experience, ideally within a complex, regulated environment.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale technology modernisation and transformation, across multiple business-critical platforms and programs.
  • Strong cloud modernisation experience, including application migration, legacy simplification, data centre exit, dependencies and operational readiness.
  • Strategic portfolio leadership, with experience shaping roadmaps, prioritising investment and turning strategy into executable delivery plans.
  • Strong executive stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex technology issues and clearly communicate business impact, risks and trade-offs.
  • Strong commercial, governance and risk management capability, balancing delivery speed, resilience, cost, quality, risk and business value.
  • Proven people and partner leadership, building accountability across multidisciplinary teams, senior business stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners.
