Xero is seeking a Head of Engineering in Melbourne to lead the Making Payments domain. You will shape the architecture and roadmap, partner with Product and Design, and build a high-performing engineering organization.

This role emphasizes strategic leadership, technical judgement, and a focus on reliability and customer value. You will guide architecture for payments, balance platform investment with delivery, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture while enabling teams to move fast

Competenze

• Experience leading multiple engineering teams with Engineering Managers and senior leaders.
• Deep technical judgement across software architecture, distributed systems, cloud-native environments, reliability and security.
• Strong product sense and strategic planning with ability to connect engineering choices to customer outcomes.
• Proven track record growing talent and leading with trust in a diverse, inclusive culture.
• Experience in payments, financial services, or regulated domains is valuable.
