Job summary

Valiant Finance is hiring its first Insurance Lead/Head of Commercial Insurance in Sydney, Australia. This player-coach role will write business from day one while building the systems, process and team to scale the function.

You’ll work with SMB clients, place risks with insurers, design end-to-end workflows, and set up reporting on revenue and pipeline. Parental leave and dog-friendly office are among the perks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a commercial insurance broker or account executive with SMB clients
• Proven record of generating new business revenue and growing it year over year
• RG146 compliance (Tier 1)
• Ability to be appointed as an Authorised Representative under an AFSL
• Strong working knowledge of commercial classes and the Australian insurer market
• Consultative style: focus on business concerns first

Responsibilities

• Provide asset insurance to customers whose car or equipment finance is brokered by our Sales team
• Run needs-based conversations with business owners to understand operations, assets and exposures, then recommend cover
• Cross-sell commercial insurance across classes such as business packs, liability, PI, MS, cyber, motor, fleet
• Place risks with insurers and underwriting agencies, negotiate terms and manage renewals and claims support
• Design end-to-end insurance workflow within Valiant's ecosystem: lead intake, quoting, placement, binding, renewals and handoff
• Build and manage relationships with insurers and AFSL partners
• Collaborate with product, engineering and operations to reduce friction and speed quotes/bindings
• Grow the team as the book expands: hands-on initially, then hire/train/coaching
• Set up reporting to track revenue, retention and pipeline
• Meet all general insurance obligations (disclosure, general vs personal advice, anti-hawking, duty of disclosure, complaints handling)
