Job summary

Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water in Sydney seeks a strategic Branch Head to lead Environmental Water Trade and Recovery. The role drives optimisation of the Commonwealth environmental water portfolio and delivery of water recovery initiatives, with a focus on markets, policy and stakeholder engagement.

You will provide high-level strategic advice, lead a team, and ensure governance, risk management and performance across programs aligned to Basin Plan

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in science, economics, finance, public policy or related disciplines.
• Experience operating in water markets or regulated markets and trading frameworks.
• Ability to provide strategic advice in complex operating environments.
• Demonstrated leadership to build capability and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice on water markets, entitlement and allocation value, and market trends.
• ,
• Lead a branch delivering environmental water portfolio optimisation and water recovery initiatives across the Murray–Darling Basin.
• Oversee governance, probity, contract management and risk management.
