Job summary

QT Canberra, part of EVT, is seeking a driven, hands-on Head Chef to lead our kitchen and shape the next chapter of our food offering. This pivotal role owns kitchen operations—from culture and rostering to quality, cost discipline and supplier relationships—with autonomy to run the kitchen day-to-day and act as a genuine partner to hotel leadership, while mentoring a high-calibre team.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a high-volume hotel or hospitality kitchen.
• Strong track record in managing labour costs and supplier negotiations.
• Proven ability to coach and develop a diverse kitchen team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-volume kitchen across outlets with strong day-to-day leadership.
• Drive food cost performance through purchasing control and waste reduction.
• Strengthen supplier relationships to secure better purchasing outcomes.
• Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and menu execution.
• Embed KPIs (food cost%, waste, labour) into kitchen operations.
• Mentor and develop your team, building a positive kitchen culture.
• Partner with hotel leadership to run the kitchen autonomously.
