Andaz Gold Coast is seeking a Head Barista to lead our coffee program and deliver exceptional experiences across our venues. You will prepare outstanding coffee, guide the barista team, and bring Andaz Gold Coast to life through guest interactions.

Experience as Head Barista or Senior Barista in luxury settings, strong knowledge of specialty coffee, and a passion for guest service are essential. Flexible hours and compliance with food safety are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Head Barista, Senior Barista or in a similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso preparation and brewing methods.
• Confidence using and caring for professional coffee equipment.
• Strong communication, coaching and guest service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and presentation.
• A collaborative, reliable and solutions-focused approach.
• Curiosity and a genuine interest in coffee culture.
• The ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• A current food safety certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Must already have current and ongoing working rights for Australia.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily coffee operation and set high standards for quality, consistency and presentation.
• Prepare and serve espresso coffee, filter coffee, tea and non-alcoholic beverages to a consistently high standard.
• Welcome guests with warmth and deliver attentive, unscripted service.
• Share thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Build strong knowledge of coffee origins, roast profiles, brewing methods and equipment.
• Train, coach and support barista colleagues in coffee preparation, service and product knowledge.
• Contribute ideas for seasonal coffee offerings, signature drinks and new beverage experiences.
• Maintain coffee equipment to a high standard and complete daily cleaning and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked coffee station.
• Complete opening and closing duties accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, stock rotation and inventory control.
• Work closely with floor and kitchen colleagues to create a seamless guest experience.
• Support events, activations and special service periods when required.
• Follow all health, hygiene, safety and food-handling procedures.
• Help create a positive, collaborative and inclusive environment for the team.
