Job summary

Medlog Australia Pty Ltd in Sydney seeks a dependable truck driver to support container movements, wharf operations and general freight tasks. You will drive heavy vehicles, secure loads, perform daily inspections, and coordinate with depots and transport staff.

Required are a current heavy vehicle license, experience with container procedures, COR/load restraint knowledge, and strong fatigue management understanding. A safety-focused, professional attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• MSIC card or eligibility to obtain one.
• Wharf/port operations and container handling knowledge.
• Experience with 20ft/40ft containers and securing loads.
• Understanding of container procedures, numbers, seals and paperwork.
• Safe operating procedures around loading/unloading zones.
• Current heavy vehicle license appropriate to work vehicle.
• Extensive heavy vehicle driving experience.
• Strong knowledge of urban/interstate road networks.
• Clean driving history preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of COR, vehicle safety and load restraint.
• Ability to perform daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
• BFM and fatigue management familiarity or certification preferred.
• Experience with regulatory fatigue management requirements and work diaries.
• MT DATA familiarity is a plus.
• Oversize/general freight experience and load-securing skills.
• Knowledge of permits, escort requirements for oversize loads.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy vehicles for container movements and freight runs.

Required / Preferred Experience & Certifications

Container & Wharf Experience

• MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card)
• Previous wharf and port experience
• Empty container park experience
• Experience collecting and delivering import/export containers
• Good understanding of container procedures, including container numbers, seals, and paperwork

Side Loader Experience

• Experience loading and unloading 20ft and 40ft containers
• Ability to safely position and secure containers
• Good understanding of safe operating procedures around loading/unloading areas

Heavy Vehicle / Truck Driving Experience

• Appropriate heavy vehicle license for the vehicle being operated
• Strong heavy vehicle driving experience
• Good knowledge of metropolitan and interstate roads/routes
• Clean driving history preferred
• Good understanding of Chain of Responsibility (COR), vehicle safety, and load restraint requirements
• Ability to complete daily vehicle inspections and identify/report defects

Fatigue Management

• BFM (Basic Fatigue Management) experience/certification preferred
• Experience working within regulated fatigue management requirements
• Understanding of work diary / fatigue recording requirements
• Good understanding of fatigue management and work/rest requirements
• MT DATA experience

Oversize / General Freight Experience (will be highly regarded)

• Previous experience with oversize and/or over mass loads preferred
• Experience with rigid trucks and general freight
• Experience securing loads using chains, straps, binders, and other appropriate restraint equipment
• Understanding of load restraint requirements
• Experience with permits, escort requirements and oversize load procedures would be highly regarded
