Job summary

Fortescue’s Solomon mine is seeking a qualified HD Mechanic or Auto Electrician to join the Haul Team as a Machine Inspector. The role involves conducting planned inspections across the haul truck fleet to support reliability, safety and performance.

Working largely autonomously, you will identify defects, support condition monitoring activities and collaborate with supervisors, planners, technicians and reliability engineers to ensure maintenance requirements are captured and actioned.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent in heavy diesel mechanical or auto electrical.
• Experience with large mobile mining equipment, preferably haul trucks.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and recommend maintenance actions.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed daily inspections of haul truck fleet, identify defects and reliability issues.
• Conduct Condition Monitoring inspections, basic diagnostics, oil sampling and minor repairs.
• Document inspection findings with notes and photos; create notifications and work orders.
• Conduct workshop service inspections and fleet-wide audits per maintenance, reliability and safety needs.
• Manage inspection findings in REMS and maintenance systems; prioritise and track work.
• Maintain effective handovers with supervisors, planners, technicians and reliability engineers.
