Job summary

QT Melbourne is a 5-star, 188-room design hotel in Melbourne's theatre district. We're seeking a full-time Handyperson to keep the property running at its best.

This permanent role offers a minimum 38 hours per week and a hands-on environment within EVT's premium hotel portfolio. You’ll perform routine and reactive maintenance across guest rooms and public areas, with duties in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and reactive maintenance across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC checks.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, troubleshooting to minimise guest impact.
• Conduct safety inspections and assist with fire alarm testing; report hazards to the Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain an organized inventory of supplies and place orders to keep the department running.
• Repair or replace furniture and equipment as needed to keep the property looking sharp.

The Role

QT Melbourne is a 5-star, 188-room design hotel in the heart of the city's theatre district on Russell Street, home to Pascale Bar & Grill, Yamagen, Bar 133 and the iconic Rooftop at QT. We're looking for a full-time Handyperson to help keep it running at its best. This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum guaranteed 38 hours per week. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and reactive maintenance including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC checks across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently to minimise impact on guests and operations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, assist with fire alarm testing and report hazards or compliance concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain an organised inventory of maintenance supplies and place orders to keep the department running smoothly.
• Repair or replace furniture, fixtures and equipment as needed, keeping the property looking sharp at all times.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience in maintenance, repair or a related trade, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Practical skills across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general handyperson tasks.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
• A commitment to safety, compliance and maintaining a well-presented working environment.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including weekends, evenings and on-call availability for emergencies as required.
