Job summary

Accor is seeking a hands-on Handyperson for its Port Douglas properties, including Mantra Heritage, Inlet and Village. The role focuses on maintaining rooms, amenities and communal areas to a pristine standard while preventing issues before they arise.

You will perform basic carpentry, plumbing or electrical tasks, collaborate with a diverse team, and communicate effectively with guests and contractors. Weekend and public holiday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, or electrical – no official qualification required.
• Ability to spot issues early and address them safely.
• Strong communication with team, GMs, guests and contractors on site.
• Willing to work weekends and public holidays as required.

Job description

Mantra Heritage, Inlet and Village are three properties located in the heart of Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland, one hour drive north of Cairns CBD. This power trio property offers stylish studios, one and two bedroom suites with saltwater lagoon pools, sundecks and lush tropical gardens. Spend your downtime snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, the largest coral reef ecosystem on earth, enjoy the scenic sky rail through the heritage rainforest or simply relax and take a crocodile sightseeing cruise through the mangroves.

Purpose

As the Handyperson, you will be the master of all trades, prepared to take on any maintenance, repair, or improvement challenge that may arise. You possess the ability to spot issues before they elevate (today's leak could become tomorrow's flood!) and you skilfully employ your handy tools to address a diverse range of tasks, ensuring the property remains in impeccable condition.

Primary Responsibilities

• Take charge of ensuring that all rooms, amenities, and communal spaces within the property are well-maintained and in excellent condition
• Collaborate with a diverse team, requiring both a cooperative mindset and the ability to work independently
• Encounter stimulating challenges that require innovative solutions
• Execute maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance projects as required

Skills And Experience

• Comfortable in a physical role, have a get-up-and-go attitude and be someone who won't stop until the job is completed in a safe and presentable manner
• Prior experience with practical skills in general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, or electrical – no official qualification required
• Great problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from the General Manager, to guests and contractors working onsite
• Available to work a variety of shifts including weekends and public holidays as required
