Job summary

ACT Steelworks is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor/Manager to own the day‑to‑day running of a busy steel fabrication workshop in Queanbeyan, NSW. This hands‑on leadership role focuses on organising people, workflow and ensuring safe, efficient, high‑quality output.

You will work closely with management, project teams and logistics to keep jobs moving and provide the team with what they need to get the work done.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a workshop team in a heavy fabrication environment.
• Strong ability to plan labour and allocate work across the shop floor.
• Solid understanding of fabrication drawings and workshop processes.
• Commitment to safety, quality and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day workshop operations and workflow.
• Plan labour and allocate work across the workshop.
• Coordinate fabrication priorities with project and dispatch requirements.
• Supervise boilermakers, welders, apprentices and other staff.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Monitor progress and address issues before delivery.
• Ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
• Maintain high fabrication quality and workmanship standards.
• Work with management to resolve production issues.
