Job summary

Murray Cod Australia is seeking a hands-on Leading Hand to coordinate day-to-day production in our fast-paced processing facility. You will lead shift teams, ensure adherence to SOPs, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

You should have prior leadership experience in production, ideally in FMCG or food manufacturing, with a focus on GMP, quality control, and effective communication. Immediate start on day or night shifts is available.

Qualifications

• Experience as Leading Hand, Team Leader or Production Supervisor.
• Understanding of production processes and established procedures.
• Experience in quality-controlled food manufacturing.
• Knowledge of GMP, food safety and quality requirements.
• Ability to lead employees while remaining hands-on.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production priorities.
• Reliable, proactive and team-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Support daily production plan and achievement of production targets.
• Provide hands-on leadership, direction and support to production employees.
• Ensure employees follow approved production processes, SOPs and work instructions.
• Monitor product quality and escalate food safety or quality concerns promptly.
• Work closely with Production, Quality and Management to maintain operational standards.
• Support line setup, workflow, labour allocation and production changeovers.
• Identify production bottlenecks and assist with practical solutions.
• Monitor productivity, waste, downtime and general production performance.
• Ensure production, quality and operational records are completed accurately.
• Support employee training, onboarding and competency development.
• Reinforce GMP, hygiene, housekeeping and food safety requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure WHS procedures are followed.
• Support stock and product movements within the processing environment.
• Provide clear shift handovers and communicate outstanding issues to the next shift or management.
