Job summary

Direct Personnel is seeking an experienced Team Leader/Leading Hand to join a large precast operation in the Newcastle area, manufacturing structural concrete products including Super-T bridge beams. This is a hands-on leadership role on the factory floor with your crew, coordinating daily production and ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a crew in precast, structural concrete or civil construction.
• Strong understanding of concrete production and construction processes.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Coordinate people, priorities and production requirements.
• Hands-on leadership style with strong communication.
• Commitment to safety and quality.
• Willingness to work extended shifts with overtime.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Leading a crew through day-to-day precast production and casting activities.
• Coordinating formwork, steel fixing, stressing, pouring, stripping and curing.
• Reading engineering drawings, reinforcement schedules and prestressing layouts.
• Identifying potential issues before they impact production or quality.
• Running pre-starts and toolbox talks.
• Coordinating crane and rigging activities for the safe movement of precast components.
• Keeping production on track while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Reporting incidents, near misses and quality issues and following through on corrective actions.
