Job summary

Carey Baptist Grammar School is seeking a part-time Kitchen Program Assistant for a 12-month term (2027) based at the Kew campus. You will support the Kitchen Garden Coordinator in running a hands-on program for Years 3 and 4, focusing on growing, preparing, and sharing food with emphasis on safety and inclusivity.

The role requires cooking experience, strong organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with volunteers and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience as an accomplished cook and willingness to obtain relevant certificates.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to build positive relationships with children.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain staff-parent trust.
• Ability to meet physical demands such as standing, lifting and carrying.

Responsibilities

• Plan with coordinators to maintain a high-quality cooking program for Years 3 and 4.
• Set up the kitchen prior to lessons and supervise student cleanup.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and learning spaces.
• Purchase ingredients as needed.
• Brief adult helpers before cooking sessions.
