Job summary

NSW Health Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead the Haematology service at Westmead Hospital. This temporary full-time position up to October 2027 offers leadership of a large, high-performing laboratory, driving service excellence and safe, high-quality diagnostic delivery.

You'll oversee day-to-day operations, workforce development, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement in a dynamic health precinct. A supportive environment awaits leadership growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
• Proven leadership and operational management skills including budget and resource management
• Experience with quality improvement and risk management in healthcare
• Experience in change management and using data to improve efficiency
• Strategic thinking and networks in pathology relevant to laboratory
• Advanced knowledge of LIS, MS Office and quality systems with data analysis
• Strong customer service with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder skills

Responsibilities

• Manage the laboratory to provide efficient, effective service across operations, compliance and financial planning
• Oversee department performance monitoring and reporting
• Lead workforce development, strategic planning and operational leadership
