Job summary

Kingston City Council is recruiting a Gym Instructor to support members in achieving fitness goals and deliver engaging small group sessions. You will help maintain a welcoming Health Club, provide safe equipment guidance, and assist with day-to-day operations.

Applicants must have Certificate III/IV in Fitness and current CPR; fitness registration is desirable. We offer a flexible casual schedule with opportunities around Kingston’s leisure centres, including potential roles at the new Mordi

About the role

As a Gym Instructor, you will support members to achieve their fitness goals by providing safe, effective guidance and delivering engaging small group training sessions. You’ll play an important role in creating a positive Health Club environment and contributing to strong member satisfaction and participation.

We're recruiting now for these exciting opportunities, with successful candidates anticipated to start closer to the opening of the new Mordi Aquatic Centre

What you’ll deliver:

Fitness programs and consultations tailored to individual needs

Clear guidance on safe and effective use of gym equipment

Engaging small group training sessions

A clean, safe, and well-maintained Health Club environment

Timely and helpful for member enquiries and feedback

Day-to-day gym operations, including basic admin and record keeping

Optional Personal Training opportunities, paid at sessional rates, with the potential to build your own client base. PT Experience is desirable but not essential.

Your Skills and Experience

You will bring

Experience delivering fitness instruction and consultations

PT experience highly desired

Ability to provide clear and practical fitness advice

Skills in engaging and supporting a wide range of Health Club users

Strong customer service and communication skills

Ability to work as part of a team and manage daily tasks

Qualifications

Certificate III and IV in Fitness

Current Fitness Industry Registration (desirable)

Current CPR Certificate
