Mareeba State High School is seeking a Guidance Officer to join our Student Services team, based on site at Mareeba, supporting junior secondary students with counselling, psychoeducational assessments, and educational planning.

This temporary full-time role commences 21 January 2027 and continues until 17 September 2027. The position involves collaboration with families, teachers, and external agencies to promote positive educational outcomes and lifelong learning.

Responsabilités

• Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access and engagement in educational programs.
• Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision making about educational, personal, social, emotional and career development, and provide ongoing support during the implementation phase of their decision.
• Conduct activities such as student observation to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.

Mareeba State High School are welcoming applications for a Guidance Officer to join our school community. The successful candidate will be based at Mareeba State High School and work as a member of our Student Services team supporting students in junior secondary. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 21 January 2027 until 17 September 2027, unless otherwise determined. About The Role
