Job summary

Townsville Golf Club is seeking a Grounds/Golf Course Maintenance Assistant to support the Greens Superintendent in maintaining the Townsville Golf Course in line with policies and safety standards.

You will assist with maintenance programs, equipment operation, irrigation, mowing, weed control, bunkers, and record keeping, contributing to safe, high-quality course conditions on the banks of the Ross River.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge in turf maintenance and horticulture.
• WH&S awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
• Ability to operate and maintain turf equipment and machinery.
• Willingness to learn pesticide and fertiliser application under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist Greens Superintendent in establishing maintenance programs for course quality including labour, machinery, pesticide application, maintenance procedures, irrigation, mowing, line marking, weed spraying, turf laying and fertilising.
• Perform basic maintenance on equipment such as lawn mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, and whipper snippers.
• Ensure regular maintenance of bunkers and correct hole/tee placements.
• Maintain general grounds and surrounds including carparks and gardens; basic building, plumbing, pruning, and waste disposal.
• Monitor stock supplies including chemicals and fertilisers and maintain chemical/equipment records.
• Ensure machinery is maintained in safe, efficient condition and comply with WHS requirements.

Job description

This role is responsible for assisting the Greens Superintendent with the maintenance, operation and management of the Townsville Golf Course, in accordance with the policies of the Management Committee and relevant state and federal legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Greens Superintendent in establishing and implementing maintenance programs, which will achieve course quality including labour, machinery, pesticide application, maintenance procedures, irrigation, watering, lawn mowing, line marking, weed spraying, turf laying and fertilizing
• Perform basic maintenance on specific equipment and tools including lawn mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, whipper snippers
• Ensure regular maintenance of bunkers
• Assist the Greens Superintendent in ensuring hole and tee placements are set
• Maintain general grounds and surrounds of the Club including carparks and gardens including basic building, plumbing, pruning, rubbish collection and disposal
• Monitor stock supplies including chemical and fertilizer availability and storage
• Maintain stock and demonstrate record keeping of chemicals, equipment and machinery details
• Ensure that all machinery is maintained in a safe and efficient condition
• Maintain strict compliance with all legislation, regulations and statutes in regards to all Workplace Health and Safety requirements

About you

• Hold and maintain Australian driver's licence
