Job summary

Service Stream in Edinburgh Precinct, SA is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Leading Hand to support the PAS contract. This permanent full-time role is based at Edinburgh Precinct, SA, and focuses on outdoor leadership and frontline supervision.

You will lead a team delivering grounds maintenance tasks, coordinate daily work, and ensure safe, efficient operation of equipment while maintaining high work quality in a Defence-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience or ability to lead a team.
• Ability to operate mowers, blowers, compactors and landscaping equipment.
• Capable of lifting, digging and outdoor work in all weather.
• Familiarity with OH&S and PPE use.
• Relevant licences, white card and first aid are highly regarded.
• Australian Citizenship and Defence Security Clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on delivery of grounds maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate daily work and ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Perform site tasks including fencing, paving, irrigation.
• Support tradespeople and crews with general site tasks.
• Conduct equipment checks and report faults or hazards.
• Identify utility lines and manage soil conditions.
• Set up and clean work areas to maintain site safety.
• Lead toolbox talks and promote a safe work culture.
• Coordinate daily tasks for Grounds Maintenance Operators.
• Support TAL Supervisor with coordinating Contractors, compliance, and reporting activities as required.

About the role

In this leadership role, you will provide hands - on support to a team delivering grounds maintenance tasks in outdoor environments. The role coordinates daily work, ensures safe and efficient operation of equipment, maintains work quality, and supports productivity by actively working alongside the team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and clearing land for construction, agriculture, or infrastructure projects.
• Operating plant and construction machinery safely and efficiently.
• Loading, transporting and handling materials and equipment.
• Performing manual labour including digging, lifting, and trenching.
• Supporting tradespeople and crews with general site tasks.
• Conducting equipment checks and report faults or hazards.
• Identifying utility lines and manage soil conditions.
• Setting up and cleaning work areas to maintain site safety.
• Leading toolbox talks, and contributing to and promoting a safe work culture.
• Coordinating daily tasks for Grounds Maintenance Operators.
• Supporting TAL Supervisor with coordinating Contractors, compliance, and reporting activities as required.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Leadership experience or ability to step into this role.
• Ability to safely operate mowers, blowers, compactors, and other landscaping equipment.
• Capable of lifting, digging, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Assisting with fencing, paving, retaining walls, and irrigation systems.
• Familiarity with OH&S procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively on-site.
• Punctual, dependable, and able to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Relevant licences, white card and first aid requirements are highly regarded.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
