Job summary

Qantas Ground Services (QGS) Freight is hiring for Freight Ground Crew at Mascot Airport. This permanent part-time role supports both Domestic and International freight, including pets, machinery, dangerous goods and packages.

You will handle freight, operate forklifts and heavy equipment, and process documents in the Warehouse System (iCargo). Join a dynamic team with strong growth, receive on-the-job training, and have opportunities to progress your career while contributing to safe, efficient

Qualifications

• A current and valid provisional or full driver’s license.
• A forklift license or willingness to obtain one (at your own expense).
• Ability to repetitively lift items up to 32 kgs.
• Willingness to work a 24/7 rotational shift roster.
• Able to pass a pre-employment medical (Qantas funded).
• Previous forklift warehouse experience is preferred.
• Recent experience in a manual handling or physical role is preferred.
• Commitment to safety and WHS guidelines at all times.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Hard-working with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
• Care and responsibility for freight.

Freight Ground Crew,

You will work in different areas of the Freight department including Domestic and International, looking after our customers’ freight. You could be moving anything from beloved pets and animals to machinery, dangerous goods and packages.

On a day-to-day basis, you would be responsible for the significant manual handling of freight where your duties include loading and unloading of aircraft. You will be operating forklifts, tugs and heavy machinery. Additionally, you’ll operate computer systems, scanners and lodging of freight documents into the Warehouse System (iCargo). Working together with your supervisors and managers, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills while progressing your career.

You’ll Have

• A current and valid provisional or full state or territory driver’s license
• A current and valid forklift license or willing to obtain at your own expense
• The ability to repetitively lift items up to 32 kgs in weight
• The ability to work all shifts in our dynamic 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, rotational shift roster (meaning shifts will vary from week to week)
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical (Qantas funded)
• Previous experience using a forklift in a warehouse environment is preferred
• Recent experience in a manual handling or physical role, within a fast-paced operational environment preferred
• A passion for safety and working within Work Health & Safety guidelines at all times
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• A hard-working nature and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
• Displays care and responsibility for our customers’ freight
