Job summary

Parks Victoria seeks a practical Ranger based in Halls Gap to manage the Grampians walking track network and support the Grampians Peaks Trail operations. You will audit and maintain tracks, facilities, signage and drainage while engaging visitors and partnering with the Ranger team.

Expect active fieldwork, remote campsite servicing, and broader park-management duties across the Grampians region. A current Victorian driver's licence is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and/or skills in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation and land management, outdoor education, community engagement, a relevant trade or a related field.
• Experience delivering routine and moderately complex on-ground services and projects as part of a team.
• Practical skills and an understanding of asset management, visitor services and land management practices.
• Sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills.
• The fitness and ability to undertake field-based work, including auditing and maintaining walking tracks.
• A current Victorian driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-ground park management services and projects across the Grampians walking track network.
• Maintain walking tracks, signage, vegetation, drainage infrastructure and visitor facilities.
• Support the servicing and maintenance of remote campsites and the operation of the Grampians Peaks Trail.
• Deliver positive visitor engagement and represent Parks Victoria professionally.
• Work collaboratively as part of the Ranger team and contribute to broader area priorities.
• Apply sound judgement and initiative to resolve operational issues and improve service delivery.
• Maintain safe work practices and effectively identify and manage risks when undertaking field-based activities.
