Job summary

Austin Health in Melbourne is offering a fixed-term, full-time Graduate Orthotist/Prosthetist position. This role develops clinical expertise in orthotics and prosthetics across inpatient and outpatient streams, with opportunities to contribute to service improvement.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams and provide patient-centered care, aligning with professional standards and funding streams. The position supports learning and career development within a major tertiary health service.

Qualifications

• Masters of Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics (or Bachelor equivalent).
• AOPA membership with certification as an Orthotist / Prosthetist.
• An interest in an area of clinical practice relevant to Austin Health (Musculoskeletal, Spinal Injury and pressure injury management).
• Working knowledge of external funding streams such as NDIS, TAC, WorkCover and SWEP.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise and provide direct clinical services to areas of Austin Health in accordance with caseload requirements, including pressure injury and prevention, acute spinal management and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Provide clinical services in accordance with the professional and ethical standards of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association
• Assess patients’ functional status and provision of orthoses/prostheses for inpatients and outpatients referred to the Department, including planning, evaluation of treatment, and ongoing treatment plans.
• Actively contribute to the development and continuing improvement of the orthotics and prosthetics service
