Job summary

KAEFER Integrated Services in Geelong is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the team at the Geelong Refinery. The role bridges theory and asset management, providing field exposure to see designs and decisions come to life.

You will support drawings reviews, equipment life extensions or replacements, and procurement of long-lead items, while gaining site experience and professional development with mentoring. This is a full-time position starting January 2027.

Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming graduate with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or expected graduation soon).
• Interest in piping infrastructure, static/rotating equipment, and design reviews.
• Proactive communicator who thrives on solving complex engineering puzzles in a dynamic field.

• Full-time position (40 hours per week) starting January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify equipment manufacturing drawings, piping design packages, and isometrics against project standards and Australian Standards.
• Assist in planning mechanical asset life extensions or complete equipment replacements across refinery maintenance and project activities.
• Contribute to the technical specification, evaluation, and procurement of critical mechanical components and long-lead items.
• Coordinate and monitor installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities for piping, static/rotating equipment, and structural components.
• Prepare and review work packs, technical documentation, engineering calculations, and project reports.
• Utilise CAD and engineering software to support design reviews, draft revisions, and ensure document control.
• Liaise with supervisors, project managers, contractors, and HSE to ensure safe, on-time, and efficient project delivery.
• Participate in site risk assessments, field inspections, and quality management system compliance.
