Job summary

SMEC is seeking a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join the Materials team in North Sydney as part of Roads & Highways. You will contribute to major rail and metro projects alongside experienced engineers during a two-year GDP designed to accelerate growth.

The role offers hands-on project exposure, mentoring, structured learning, and development across teams and disciplines within a global infrastructure group.

Qualifications

• Degree in Materials Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Experience in asset condition inspections or materials testing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to asset condition assessments and inspections across infrastructure projects.
• Assist with materials durability analysis and design reviews.
• Participate in site visits to understand how materials durability solutions are implemented.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on road, rail, energy, water, ports and built environment projects.
• Learn and apply industry standards, modelling tools, and best-practice principles through structured development.
