Job summary

WGA is seeking a Graduate Hydrogeologist to join our Water Team in Napier or Christchurch, New Zealand. You will contribute to groundwater and water resource projects, supporting investigations, analysis, modelling, and reporting to deliver sustainable water management outcomes.

The Graduate Program supports your transition from study to professional practice, with mentoring, hands-on fieldwork, and opportunities across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Geosciences or closely related field.
• Field experience in groundwater and/or surface water.
• Proficient with Excel, ArcGIS, QGIS; Modflow desirable.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel across NZ, Australia, and the Pacific.

Responsibilities

• Collect field monitoring data and hydraulic/pumping tests.
• Interpret geological maps and bore logs for hydrogeological assessments.
• Analyse aquifer test data and support analytical modelling.
• Interpret groundwater level and water quality data using GIS.
• Assist in preparing hydrogeological technical reports.
