Job summary

Aurelia Metals Limited in NSW is hiring a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer for Peak & Federation Mine to gain hands‑on experience supporting underground development and production processes under guidance from a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

You'll contribute to geotechnical monitoring, ground support design, inspections, and technical support across underground operations, while learning from industry professionals and developing core technical skills for a career in mining.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Willingness to learn Deswik, CAD, RocScience, DIPS, UNWEDGE, FLAC3D and MAP3D.
  • Interest in underground mining and geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong communication, technical writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive, safety-focused and collaborative attitude; eager to learn.
  • Current 'C' Class Driver’s Licence preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support geotechnical monitoring and ground control design.
  • Assist inspections and provide technical support across underground operations.

About the role

Launch your career as a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer at our Peak & Federation Mine, where you'll gain hands‑on experience supporting underground development and production operations while working alongside experienced professionals committed to your growth and success.

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll contribute to geotechnical monitoring, ground support design, inspections, and technical support activities across underground mining operations. You'll have the opportunity to learn from industry experts, build practical experience, and develop the technical skills needed for a successful career in underground mining.

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate who is curious, motivated, and eager to learn. Through mentoring, structured development, practical site experience, and exposure to industry‑leading software and mining practices, you'll be supported to build confidence and technical capability within a collaborative and safety-focused team.

  • Roster: 8/6, 12 hours per day (Dayshift only)

  • Location: Cobar Region, NSW

Travel options
  • Residents enjoy a balanced roster and the opportunity to settle into the family-friendly township of Cobar. Relocation support is available, along with a residential allowance

  • DIDO if you live within an 800km radius of the Mine site which includes a travel allowance

  • FIFO from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne

Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent (recent graduates encouraged to apply or in the last 12 months)

  • Exposure to or willingness to learn Deswik, CAD, RocScience, DIPS, UNWEDGE, FLAC3D, and MAP3D

  • Strong interest in underground mining and geotechnical engineering

  • Strong communication, technical writing, and problem‑solving skills

  • Positive, safety‑focused, and collaborative attitude with eagerness to learn

  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence preferred
