Job summary

Allume Energy, a Melbourne-based technology company focused on unlocking solar access, invites a Graduate Electronics and Electrical Engineer to join our product development team. You will contribute to hardware electronics across the lifecycle from concept to in-market support, in a small, fast-growing environment with a flat structure.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electronics/Electrical/Mechatronics, knowledge of analog and digital circuits, and hands-on experience with test equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuit design, with experience using simulation tools (eg LTspice).
  • Experience using standard electronic test equipment, including digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and laboratory power supplies. Basic through-hole and SMD soldering skills.
  • Ability to read datasheets accurately and write clear technical documentation, lab notes, or test reports.
  • Structured, methodical approach to debugging and troubleshooting hardware flaws
  • Strong curiosity and a proactive drive to learn new tools, architectures, and engineering methodologies on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Support Product team in new product development activities, including design & component review, procurement and prototyping
  • Support delivery of electronics sub-system design, prototype & test for new product
  • Support manufacture of product in market through production tester development, documentation and maintenance
  • Develop test plans and execute product verification protocols
  • Support the engineering team in managing the build and test lab space maintaining electrical safety protocols
  • Advocating Allume's values, taking on and providing feedback to the team.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 base + super (depending on experience)

About the role

Allume's product spans the mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware and web software engineering disciplines. We are looking for a capable and passionate graduate electronics engineer that wants to grow their skills in product development from initial concept through to in-market support.


The role will require a desire to learn while applying your knowledge to real world technical challenges. Candidates should be excited by the opportunity to be a contributor to the products' electronics hardware within a small fast-growing product business, with a flat organisational structure and opportunity for professional growth.


What you will bring

Nice to have


  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools, Altium Designer preferred

  • Ability to clearly explain technical issues to both engineering peers and non-technical team members

  • Experience with or knowledge of mains electrical systems, with particular focus on renewable energy industry

  • Experience with or exposure to hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN bus.

  • Ability to write Python scripts or embedded (C, C++) for test automation, data logging, or parsing data from hardware interfaces.

  • Experience with 3D printing or basic mechanical design prototyping to house electronic assemblies, Solidworks or Fusion360 preferred.
