Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field is welcome but not essential.
• Experience programming via university, work, personal projects, or self-directed learning.
• Genuine interest in AI, automation and agentic development.
• Experience experimenting with AI models, APIs, agents or automation tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to read unfamiliar code.

Graduate AI & Technology Developer

Full-time, permanent | Graduate / Junior level

About the role

We're looking for a Graduate or Junior AI & Technology Developer to join a small in-house digital team supporting a national Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

This is a broad, hands-on role with a strong focus on AI, automation and building new services from the ground up.

You'll work on everything from AI-native applications and backend services to APIs, integrations, websites and infrastructure. You'll also help solve day-to-day technical problems across the organisation.

A significant portion of the work is greenfields, giving you the opportunity to build systems that will be used across a national business — not just prototypes or university projects.

You'll report directly to our Chief Digital Officer, who will provide technical guidance and mentoring while giving you increasing ownership as your experience grows.

What you'll be doing

• Design and build backend services for internal and customer-facing applications
• Develop AI-native services and applications using frontier and open-weight models
• Build and integrate APIs, MCP servers and tools that allow AI agents to interact with business systems
• Develop and test AI workflows, agents and automations
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve how the business operates
• Debug issues across applications, integrations and third-party services
• Assist with websites, servers, deployments and cloud infrastructure
• Provide day-to-day technical support across the organisation
• Improve existing systems and identify problems or opportunities that haven't yet been raised
• Work closely with the wider digital team on new projects and initiatives

About you

You don't need to know our entire technology stack on day one. We're looking for someone at the beginning of their career who genuinely enjoys building things, solving problems and experimenting with technology.

You'll ideally have:

• Programming experience through university, work, personal projects or self-directed learning
• A genuine interest in AI, automation and agentic development
• Experience experimenting with AI models, APIs, agents or automation tools
• An understanding of software development fundamentals
• The ability to read unfamiliar code, understand what it does and confidently work with it
• An interest in how applications and services are designed, not just writing individual pieces of code
• Strong problem-solving skills and the curiosity to investigate why something isn't working
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people
• The ability to work with ambiguity and learn new technologies quicklyA willingness to take ownership of problems from start to finish

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related discipline is welcome but not essential.
