Job summary

Optimum Consulting supports a Brisbane-based manufacturing business recruiting a motivated Graduate Accountant to join the Finance team through a structured Graduate Programme.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will rotate across core finance functions including AP, accounting, budgeting and compliance, with full support for CA/CPA qualifications. A genuine career launch opportunity in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field, completed or due within 12 months.
• Eligible to enrol in CA or CPA program.
• Strong academic record and genuine interest in accounting/finance.
• Proficient in Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
• High attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, curious mindset and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Internship or part-time finance experience and basic cost accounting/inventory concepts valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month end and year end close processes.
• Process accounts payable including invoice coding, PO matching and payment runs.
• Assist cost centre reporting, standard costing and variance analysis.
• Assist inventory reconciliations, stock counts and COGS/gross margin summaries.
• Help collate data for annual budgets and rolling forecasts with variance commentary.
• Prepare audit working papers and assist with BAS/payroll tax and statutory reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes for accuracy and efficiency.
• Build relationships across Finance, Operations, Production and Supply Chain.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline, completed or due for completion within the next 12 months
• Eligible to enrol in, or have commenced, the CA or CPA program
• Strong academic record and a genuine interest in a career in accounting or finance
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite
• High attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive, curious mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Internship, vacation programme or part time finance experience, and a basic understanding of cost accounting or inventory concepts, will be highly regarded
