Job summary

New Medical Education Pty Ltd, in partnership with Federation University Australia, is establishing a new medical school. The General Practice Placement Lead will oversee GP recruitment, training, support, and supervision for student placements across the state.

You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders, coordinate supervision programs, and ensure high-quality clinical teaching while supporting GPs in their educational roles and professional development.

Qualifications

• Speciality registration with Ahpra in General Practice/Rural Generalist Medicine, or recency of practice within the past 5 years, with significant experience in General Practice.
• Involvement in medical education and clinical supervision.
• Leadership or management experience desirable.
• Ability to liaise with diversity of clinical practices, including different practice models.
• Ability to travel to urban, regional and rural areas within the state, as required for practice visits.
• Desirable familiarity with AMC Standards for Primary Medical Programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recruitment of GPs for Placements within your State, including interviews and practice assessments.
• Participate in interviews and practice assessments to identify and engage suitable GPs to supervise students during placements, including in-person practice visits.
• Training and Development: ensure supervisors are familiar with the MD Program and supervision objectives, contribute to community of practice.
• Assist with delivery of training programs for GP supervisors on supervision, teaching, coaching, mentoring and feedback techniques.
• Promote ongoing professional development opportunities for GPs in educational roles.
• Identify areas of high quality education practice and share with other practices and the MD program.
• Support for GP Supervisors: be first point of contact, foster network among GP supervisors, acknowledge supervision contributions.
• Monitoring placement experience and liaison: monitor performance, conduct evaluations, visit practices for feedback, implement quality improvements.
• Collaboration and Communication: coordinate with other medical schools, RACGP & ACRRM, training bodies, primary health networks and practice managers; represent the school at meetings; attend Brisbane workshops.
