Job summary

McArthur is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join the Remuneration and Benefits team within a local government organisation based in Oran Park, NSW. You will support weekly payroll processing, timesheets and reconciliations in a busy, deadline-driven environment.

Ideal candidates will have extensive local or state government payroll experience, the NSW Local Government State Award knowledge, and a strong attention to detail. Civica Authority experience is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Extensive payroll experience within local or state government.
• Experience processing payroll using a computerised payroll system.
• Ability to interpret NSW Local Government State Award.
• Knowledge of employment legislation, payroll compliance and entitlements.
• Experience managing timesheets, payroll reconciliations and confidential employee information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Current driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process and check weekly payroll to ensure accurate and timely pay.
• Review and enter timesheets (paper and electronic), including overtime and leave adjustments.
• Complete payroll reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and process adjustments.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll and personnel records.
• Interpret and apply relevant awards, legislation and payroll procedures.
• Assist with payroll deductions, superannuation, annual increases and year-end processing.
• Respond to employee payroll enquiries and liaise with internal stakeholders.
• Support payroll system improvements and other payroll activities as required.
