Job summary

NSW Health at Macquarie Hospital seeks a Health Manager Level 4 to lead the Governance Support Unit in developing and implementing a Quality and Safety Framework for Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA). You will oversee the biennial Quality Plan and coordinate accreditation efforts, reporting monthly on progress and engaging with NSLHD and MHDA teams.

Qualifications

• High level knowledge and demonstrated skills pertaining to quality improvement and risk management principles, the NSWH Patient Safety Program, engagement of the consumer peer workforce, community development and associated practices and systems
• Proven experience in strategic planning, service evaluation and health care standard accreditation processes, e.g. NSQHS
• Ability to provide leadership and work as part of a team of specialists with commitment to a performance based culture, accountability, financial management, change and risk management, lean principles and planning

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development, implementation and evaluation of a Quality and Safety Framework for MHDA
• Develop a flexible biennial MHDA Quality Plan and report progress monthly
• Provide leadership and support to specialist officers in the Governance Support Unit
• Ensure GSU functions are integrated with consumer safety focus
• Lead the GSU in accreditation systems and preparation
• Ensure GSU provides educational, consultancy and coordination support to MHDA Directorate
• Liaise with NSLHD Clinical Governance to align roles and responsibilities
• Meet or exceed NSWH, NSLHD and MHDA KPIs with timely recovery plans if needed

An exciting opportunity to lead an established team of health care professionals and work closely with the MHDA senior leadership team to support essential safety and governance processes for the District MH services. This includes areas of accreditation, clinical safety, quality improvement, incident management, open disclosure, complaints and compliments, legal matters, policies and procedures, clinical redesign, and consumer engagement.

What you'll be doing

• To coordinate the development, implementation and progressive evaluation of a Quality and Safety Framework for Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA).
• To develop a flexible biennial MHDA Quality Plan and report progress against this plan monthly.
• To provide leadership and support to the specialist officers in the Governance Support Unit (GSU) and their work plans.
• To ensure that all specialist functions of the GSU are optimally integrated and where appropriate there is cross fertilisation with a very strong focus on consumer safety.
• To lead the GSU in accreditation systems and preparation.
• To ensure that the GSU provides a proactive educational, consultancy and coordination role to the MHDA Directorate and MHDA Sectors / Services when preparing for accreditation.
• To actively liaise with the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Clinical Governance Directorate to ensure alignment of roles and responsibilities.
• To ensure all relevant NSWH, NSLHD and MHDA KPIs and requirements of the roles within this unit are met or exceeded, or in the event there is variance to the KPI that a recovery plan is instituted in a timely manner.
