Job summary

NSW Health in Sydney is seeking the Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Information Manager, a full-time leadership role to develop and implement information systems, analytics and performance reporting across the Northern Sydney Local Health District.

You will line-manage the Mental Health Information Team, align with NSW Health ICT strategies, and drive improvements in data quality, reporting and decision support for MHDA.

What you'll be doing
The Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Information Manager is a full-time permanent position to assist the Director Governance and Operations, MHDA. They manage the development, implementation and on-going improvement of systems, procedures and skills to meet the requirements for NSW Health, NSLHD and MHDA for collection and analysis of information about delivery of mental health services.
Line Manager to all Mental Health Information Team positions, and liaison with Drug & Alcohol Data Manager.
Develop, implement and maintain MHDA Information Management Strategy including achievement of objectives of Mental Health Information Development project and Mental Health Outcome and Assessment project and ensuring:

• Alignment with MHDAO and NSW Health ICT Strategies.


• Alignment with MHDA Quality Strategies including National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards accreditation.


• Alignment with NSLHD DHS Strategies.


• Risk management of MHDA Information Management function.


• Compliance with NSW Health Policy Directives.

Monitor and provide reports on MH Key Performance Indicators and budget performance to MHDA, NSLHD and NSW Health.
Establish and maintain appropriate management frameworks to support initiation and delivery of MHDA information-related strategies including:

• Support and enhancement of state baseline build computer-based information systems such as eMR.


• Operational management and user support for MHDA information systems.


• Work practice redesign to support use of MHDA Information systems.


• Data input and maintenance in NSLHD and NSW Health systems such as NSLHD Core Dashboard, EDW, etc.


• Service delivery analysis and planning.

Communication and marketing: preparation of material for MHDA newsletters, organisation of Mental Health Information Committee and attendance of NSLHD & MHDA Performance Meeting (as required), NSLHD DHS Steering Committee, NSLHD Single Digital Patient Record Committee, MHDA Executive, MHDA Finance and Performance.
Ensure MHDA information management follows relevant NSLHD, NSW Health policies and Australian Standards
Represent NSLHD as required at State forums on MH information management

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Extensive experience in implementing and supporting computer-based information systems and proven high-level skills in managing staff and contractor resources.


• Extensive experience working in or supporting delivery of public health services in inpatient and/or community settings.

Proven high-level project management skills including demonstrated skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
