Job summary

Megaport is seeking a Go-focused Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance tooling and APIs that power our engineering organization. You will work within the Platform Engineering team to deliver scalable Go-based services on Kubernetes/EKS.

You should have proven Go backend experience, strong Kubernetes knowledge, and a passion for building internal developer tools. This role is remote-first with coworking options and requires Australia or New Zealand residency.

Qualifications

• Proven professional experience as a Backend Engineer using Go.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience with building services on top of Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of scalable web service development (REST, microservices, distributed systems).
• Experience designing and consuming APIs, including auth protocols.
• Proficiency in database management and query optimization.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to deliver high-quality code in fast-paced settings.
• Experience with performance profiling and debugging tools.
• Experience managing infrastructure on AWS and using GitHub as a core platform.
• Solid understanding of Git and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop Internal Developer Tooling: Build Go APIs, microservices, and CLI tools to empower engineering teams.
• Engineer Scalable Automation: Design systems orchestrating workflows across systems of record and SaaS platforms.
• Implement Governance-as-Code: Maintain automated governance for repositories and services.
• Build Self-Service Infrastructure: Create interfaces to request and manage infra securely.
• Operate and Optimize: Join cross-functional efforts to deploy and tune Go backends on Kubernetes/EKS.
