Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a qualified engineer for an Adelaide assignment to develop and qualify supplier networks for VCS and AUKUS programs. You will collaborate with US and AUS teams to identify gaps, assess supply chains, and drive supplier qualification through a phased program.

The role requires 9+ years in supplier quality, IQMS/QMS experience, and strong communication with military and industry partners. Relocation and overseas travel are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• Ph.D. with related experience may substitute for formal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify US SIB gaps and the path to meet the projected demand.
• Evaluate the AUS supply chain and its potential to close gaps and meet demand.
• Pilot manufacturing program with AUS suppliers to begin qualification for VCS sustainment and AUKUS construction.
• Provide technical support to increase efficiency and expedite qualification timelines in the US supply base.
• Perform assessments to gauge a supplier's ability to meet Technical and Quality Management System requirements.
• Help develop the end-to-end process for qualifying new suppliers.
• Conduct supplier visits for events such as STAs, hold point inspections, and final product inspections.
• Analyze and document supplier capabilities and challenges.
• Develop a roadmap for full supplier qualification.
• Work with suppliers through each wave of pilots from PO placement to delivery.
• Conduct regular supplier visits to status POAM progress.
