Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Gladstone Branch Manager based in Australia.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to take full ownership of a major transport and logistics branch in Gladstone, Queensland.
You will lead a significant operational integration, bringing teams together and establishing clear accountability and performance standards.
The role combines operational leadership, commercial ownership, people development, customer service, and safety.
With full P&L responsibility, you will influence profitability, productivity, service quality, and local business performance.
You will also shape a proactive, people-first culture focused on engagement, capability, and continuous improvement.
This is an ideal environment for a proven logistics leader who thrives in transformation rather than maintaining the status quo.
The position also offers the opportunity to relocate to Queensland and combine a senior leadership challenge with an attractive lifestyle.

  • Take full ownership of branch operations, translating broader business strategy into clear local priorities, actions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the integration of teams and operations, creating alignment, accountability, and consistent ways of working across the branch.
  • Own the branch P&L, managing costs, productivity, budgets, and profitability while maintaining strong customer outcomes.
  • Drive operational performance, including service levels, DIFOT performance, productivity, and achievement of financial targets.
  • Champion a proactive, safety-first culture and ensure appropriate standards, behaviours, and practices are embedded across the operation.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team, strengthening leadership capability, engagement, accountability, and retention.
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, customer experience, and overall branch performance.
  • Lead the branch through ongoing transformation, ensuring operational improvements are sustainable and aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement where teams actively identify issues, solve problems, and take ownership of results.
Requirements
  • Proven leadership experience within the transport, logistics, freight, or a closely related operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex operations and leading teams through significant organisational or operational change.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, costs, profitability, and ideally full P&L responsibility.
  • A track record of improving operational performance, productivity, service delivery, and customer outcomes.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to build high-performing teams and develop leaders at different levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety and the ability to establish a proactive safety culture.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to align diverse teams and influence business decisions.
  • Strong accountability and decision-making skills, with a hands-on, results-oriented approach to leadership.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a genuine appetite for transformation and continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative, inclusive leadership style that brings people together while maintaining high standards of performance.
  • Candidates who are motivated by improving established operations and delivering measurable results will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary positioned above industry standards.
  • High-impact leadership role with significant ownership, visibility, and influence over branch performance.
  • Opportunity to lead a major operational integration and shape a high-performing team and culture.
  • Upskilling, training, mentoring, and career-development opportunities.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including work-from-home options where appropriate.
  • Employee perks, discounts, and practical benefits.
  • Inclusive parental leave supporting all parents and carers.
  • Peer-recognition awards celebrating outstanding contributions.
  • Opportunity to relocate to sunny Queensland and combine a senior leadership career with an attractive lifestyle.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to supporting people of diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the transport and logistics industry and broader environmental, social, and governance objectives.
