Job summary

Ararat Shire Council is seeking a Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Officer to join the Engineering team. The role maintains and enhances GIS platforms, spatial databases and mapping services to support data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

You will develop web maps, dashboards and spatial analysis solutions, provide specialist GIS advice, and contribute to system improvements and automation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of spatial information.

Qualifications

• Experience administering and supporting GIS platforms and spatial databases.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project coordination skills.
• Experience with GIS applications, web mapping and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to a range of users.
• A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Council's GIS systems, spatial data and mapping applications.
• Provide specialist GIS advice and technical support to internal stakeholders.
