Job summary

Gold Fields is seeking a qualified geotechnical professional to support Gruyere mine operations in WA. You’ll provide geotechnical services, assess pit walls, monitor slope stability, and contribute to safe, cost-efficient mining in a large, long-life operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering or Geological Engineering.
• Experience in open cut mining geotechnical engineering.
• Experience with geotechnical data collection, mapping and monitoring.
• Knowledge of Rocscience suite, Leapfrog, Deswik and Maptek software.
• AusIMM membership (CP preferred) and a valid manual driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical services to ensure compliance with safety and mining regulations.
• Conduct pit wall inspections, mapping, ground control and sign-offs.
• Perform slope stability assessments and geotechnical design reviews.
• Monitor slope movement using radar, prisms, survey, UAV and other systems.
• Analyze geotechnical data, prepare memos, reports and recommendations.
• Contribute to mine planning, drill and blast instructions, QA/QC.
• Identify and manage geotechnical risks and develop monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with Mining, Drill & Blast, Survey, Geology and Technical Services teams.
