Job summary

Nearmap is hiring a Solutions Engineer / Pre-Sales - Geospatial in Sydney. The role focuses on guiding customers through Nearmap's Imagery, 3D, and AI products from discovery to post-sale adoption.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in customer-facing technical roles, expertise in APIs, Python, and GIS platforms, and excellent communication skills to engage technical teams and executives. Hybrid work is offered in Australia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with geospatial exposure.
• 3–5 years in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist).
• Proven pre-sales track record influencing technical buying decisions.
• Advanced proficiency with APIs and Python; experience with web GIS development.
• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Understanding AI/ML in geospatial contexts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills from technical to executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic discovery engagements to understand customer workflows, data ecosystems, and business challenges.
• Act as a trusted advisor, shaping client strategy and solution architecture; build executive relationships across pre-sales, implementation, and post-sales.
• Design and deliver tailored demos and scalable demonstrations showing how Nearmap's products solve real customer problems.
• Identify upsell and expansion opportunities; advise on API, offline product, and custom application strategies.
• Lead integration and onboarding for new customers with hands-on technical support and best-practice guidance.
• Serve as technical liaison to Product and Engineering; surface feedback, bugs, and feature gaps; partner with Sales Enablement on training.
• Coordinate with Survey Operations to scope and deliver custom aerial flights and offline products.
• Represent Nearmap as a thought leader through content, webinars, and industry events; mentor junior Solutions Engineers.
