Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Geoscience Modelling Engineer to join the QuESt Lab in the School of Geosciences. You will contribute to the world-leading whole-Earth modelling framework in collaboration with BHP, integrating plate tectonics, mantle convection, climate and biosphere processes into unified tools.

You will develop and maintain geoscience modelling software, support researchers and HDR students, and help deliver innovative modelling workflows for a globally significant earth

Qualifications

• PhD or near completion in computational geodynamics, tectonics, landscape evolution, palaeoclimate science or related field.
• Experience developing and maintaining geoscience modelling software.
• Expertise in numerical geoscience areas such as plate tectonics, thermomechanical, palaeoclimate or landscape evolution modelling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain advanced geoscience modelling software and code frameworks.
• Contribute to the EarthLab whole-Earth system modelling environment.
• Collaborate with EarthLab researchers and BHP Exploration teams.
• Support integration of geodynamic, climate and landscape evolution models.
• Enhance and maintain community research tools.
• Contribute to research outputs and publications.
• Assist HDR students and researchers with modelling workflows.
