Job summary

Sandfire Resources NL in Australia is seeking an experienced Project Database Administrator with a strong geology background to join our team. You will own and optimize global geological databases, design automated data pipelines, and support exploration and mining operations with robust data systems.

Reporting to the Senior Database Coordinator, you will mentor regional teams, contribute to the Innovation & Technology framework, and drive governance, QA/QC, and data sharing across projects

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Geology and/or Computer science.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Geobank and Datashed.
• Experience with SQL Server and PowerBI.
• Knowledge of Python or VBA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own geological databases globally and manage drillhole data, QA/QC, and migrations.
• Design automated data pipelines for DH Survey, Geology Logging, and Sampling imports.
• Optimize SQL queries and create GIS-ready data pipelines for analytics.
• Maintain data-sharing frameworks between mine teams and projects.
• Maintain software configurations (Geobank, Datashed, OCRIS) for field ops.
• Mentor and train Exploration's global Database Administrators and Geologists.
