Job summary

Xplore Resources is seeking Coal Exploration Geologists (Rig Geology and Supervisors) who are accountable for the delivery of high-quality exploration field data acquisition and storage across operations and exploration tenements.

You will promote a strong SHE culture, conduct health and safety inspections, and coordinate drilling activities while aligning with standards, procedures and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Degree in Geosciences with Geoscience experience.
  • Standard 11 Induction.
  • QLD Coal Board Medical.
  • Preferred Supervisors: RIIVEH305F, HLTAID011, RIIRIS301E, RIIWHS301E, RIICOM301E, RIIRIS402E.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality field data acquisition and storage across operations and tenements.
  • Promote a strong SHE culture and ensure safety compliance on site.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections and report hazards.
  • Provide input to exploration program schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate hole design and monitor drilling contractors’ compliance.
  • Reconcile borehole data to design and address feedback with stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with Contractors, service providers and mine teams.

Job description

We are currently seeking Coal Exploration Geologists (Rig Geology and Supervisors) who are accountable for the delivery of high-quality Exploration field data acquisition and storage across operations and exploration tenements.

Ensures the safe and controlled delivery of exploration programs by being non conditional about safety and adhering to policies and procedures

Conduct Health and safety inspections focusing on exploration operations and contractors

Promotes a strong SHE culture within Exploration

Identifies and/or rectifies hazards reported in the field

Participate in any SHE incident investigation, and ensures assigned corrective actions are completed

Performance & Delivery

Set Business Expectations

Undertake safe and efficient delivery of exploration geoscience field activities

Follow existing standards and procedures for geoscience data acquisition, aligning with current systems whilst keeping abreast of future alternatives

Follow the outlined techniques for quality data collection that supports the adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data.

Foster and manage relationships with key stakeholders

Operational Planning

Provide input into the development of exploration program schedules and budgets

Follow requirements of landowner agreements and environmental permits

Contribute to the development of operational reports

Work Management

Outline hole design to drilling contractors and monitor compliance to design

Undertake geological data acquisition following Geoscience Exploration Guidelines and per field instructions

Collect, store, prepare sample instructions for the dispatch of samples

Ensure compliance against geoscience standards

Contribute to the development exploration programme close out reports as required

Check Drilling Activity Reports for accuracy and confirm charges

Feedback

Reconcile borehole execution to hole design

Reconcile predicted geological variables to actual

Action any feedback received on performance to improve quality of data acquisition

People & Teams

Maintain key relationships with Contractors & Service Provider management, supervision and workforce

Maintain key relationships within Geoscience Department

Maintain key internal relationships with mine site operation teams (e.g. technical services department)

Qualifications:

Relevant Degree in Geosciences with Geoscience experience

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid

RIIRIS301E Apply Risk Management Processes (G1, formerly S1)

RIIWHS301E Conduct Safety & Health Investigations (G8, formerly S2)

RIICOM301E Communicate Information (G9, formerly S3)

RIIRIS402E Carry Out Risk Management Processes (G2)

Technical Knowledge

Operations:

At least 3 years of experience in exploration, mine geology or geoscience data management activities in Coal is preferred

Commercial:

Basic financial metrics & budgeting/scheduling capability

Management:

Proficient in identifying key strategic risks and opportunities that could materially impact data and data storage and application of appropriate processes and systems to mitigate/leverage them

Compliance:

Understanding of Coal Mining Safety & Health Legislation

Relevant Technical Standards

Relevant Safety & Health Management System

Technical Skills

Must be experienced in at least one relational data base software package (preferably acQuire).

Critically assess geoscience data for accuracy and consistency

Ability to coordinate field work in accordance with schedule

Ability to manage various contractors and service providers

Ability to promote strong safety culture

Ability to manage multiple scopes of work

Ability to analyse gaps against internal and external framework and implement compliance solution
