Tradewind Australia is recruiting a Generalist Solicitor to join an established Community Legal Centre's Far West NSW legal team in Broken Hill.
This is a great opportunity for a solicitor who wants to move beyond a narrow area of practice and work across a broad range of matters while providing accessible legal services to people who may otherwise struggle to access them.
You’ll work alongside an established Principal Solicitor and wider legal team, providing advice, casework, court representation, duty lawyer services, community legal education and outreach across the Far West.
Your work will be varied and community-focused, including:
The role is based in Broken Hill, with regular travel to communities including Wilcannia, Menindee, Ivanhoe, Tibooburra, White Cliffs and Wentworth.
We're looking for an admitted Australian solicitor who can bring sound legal skills, good judgement and a genuine interest in community-based legal practice.
You’ll ideally bring:
Experience in a Community Legal Centre, Legal Aid, Aboriginal Legal Service or another community-focused legal environment will be highly regarded.
You don't need to have done everything before. If you have strong generalist, litigation or advocacy experience and can demonstrate the ability and willingness to develop further areas of practice, we'd still like to hear from you.
This is more than a regional relocation for another legal job.
You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with communities across Far West NSW, take on meaningful court and generalist work, and build experience across areas of law that are difficult to access in more specialised private practice environments.
The role also offers the stability of a four-year fixed-term appointment through to June 2030, providing a longer-term opportunity to establish yourself in the community and develop your practice.
For someone looking for a genuine change of pace, regional living and work with a clear social justice purpose, this could be a very different kind of legal career opportunity.
If you're an experienced solicitor looking for broad legal work, meaningful client contact and the opportunity to build a life and career in regional NSW, we'd be keen to hear from you.
Relocation support is available.
