Job summary

Stride is recruiting a part-time GP to strengthen headspace services in Armstrong Creek. You will provide youth-friendly medical care and collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other health professionals to support young people aged 12-25.

Working within a holistic model, you will deliver physical, mental and sexual health care, including prevention, early intervention and health planning, with onsite clinical support and flexible hours to fit your schedule.

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA and Personal Professional Indemnity Insurance.
• Eligible to provide services under Medicare and be willing to Bulk Bill.
• Level 1 in Mental Health Skills Training.
• Must be eligible to hold WWCC.
• Willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.

Responsibilities

headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation and delivers high quality evidence-based clinical care to achieve better health outcomes for young people aged 12-25 years.

Our multidisciplinary team supports young people by providing support for mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drug use, and getting into work and study. headspace offers a number of evidence based mental health and wellbeing treatments that range from low intensity brief interventions through to high intensity long-term interventions.

Role Overview

If you are interested in seeking to develop your experience in youth health/ mental health; taking on additional hours; moving away from full-time hours as you transition to retirement; or, just keen to support your community and help to make an impact on young lives, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Working as a headspace GP, you will provide an opportunity for young people to access youth friendly medical services early as part of a collaborative and holistic model of care, ensuring better pathways to health and wellbeing.

You will have the opportunity to provide holistic care across a wide range of physical, mental and sexual health issues, including preventative healthcare, early identification/diagnosis/treatment, and provision of Mental Health Treatment Plans and referral as appropriate.

On Offer

Based at Armstrong Creek and with hours to fit your schedule with full flexibility of working hours/ days (ideally 1 day per week), with access to professional training and skills development, this opportunity will have you collaborating as part of a multi-disciplinary team of experienced youth healthcare experts, which may include psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, dietitians, and mental health and/or nurse practitioners.

You will have onsite clinical support as needed including clinical supervision from the Clinical Manager and access to full reception and administrative support at the headspace centre.

Requirements

• Current registration with AHPRA Personal Professional Indemnity Insurance
• A commitment to quality youth focused primary health care services to those accessing the centre(s)
• Eligibility to provide services under Medicare and be willing to Bulk Bill
• Level 1 inMental Health Skills Training
• Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
• Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
