Job summary

Role Description

This full-time General Practice Nurse role is an on-site position located at Gold Coast Medical Centre in Gold Coast, QLD. The nurse will provide person-centered clinical care, including triage, wound care, immunizations, care planning, chronic disease management, and health assessments under the guidance of general practitioners. Daily responsibilities include performing clinical procedures, administering medications and vaccinations, monitoring vital signs, maintaining accurate clinical records, and supporting patient education on treatment plans and preventive health. The nurse will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, assist with minor procedures, manage recalls and follow-ups, and ensure compliance with relevant standards, infection control protocols, and practice policies. The role also involves contributing to quality improvement activities and maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with AHPRA and eligibility to work in Australia.
• Demonstrated clinical nursing skills in general practice or primary care, including triage, wound care, immunizations, and chronic disease management.
• Sound knowledge of infection prevention and control, clinical safety standards, and best practices in primary health care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Competence in clinical documentation, use of practice management and electronic medical record systems, and accurate data entry.
• Well-developed organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy practice environment.
• Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
• CPR certification and relevant immunization accreditation (or willingness to obtain) are highly regarded.
• Previous experience in a general practice or community health setting is desirable.
