Job summary

Associated Retailers Limited (ARL) seeks an experienced General Manager – Member Development & Retail Operations to lead member capability building and oversee our company-owned SportsPower and Toyworld stores. This role reports to the CEO and shapes performance across 290+ independent members and 400+ stores in Australia and New Zealand, with autonomy to test and scale retail best practices.

Qualifications

Senior multi-site retail leadership experience.
Experience in a franchise, member-based or independent retail network.
Strong P&L ownership and profitability improvement track record.
Deep understanding of sales, gross margin, inventory, wages and costs.
Proven ability to develop high-performing Store Managers.

Responsibilities

Lead ARL’s member development agenda and company-owned stores.
Lift performance and profitability of company-owned stores.
Develop stores into benchmarks for retail best practice.
Turn learnings into practical initiatives for independent members.
Lead, coach and develop Store Managers and retail teams.
Drive retail disciplines across sales, margin, inventory, wages, buying, promotions and local marketing.
Strengthen the member journey including onboarding and offboarding.
Build and execute a member recruitment strategy.
Use data, systems and insights to drive decisions and performance.
