Voltec Services in Townsville seeks a General Manager to lead the business’s day-to-day performance, growth and profitability. You’ll oversee the team, work with clients and stakeholders, and shape company direction with support from the owner.
You’ll drive safety, quality and financial results, set strategy, coach leaders, and ensure reliable operations across projects while maintaining a constructive, high-performance culture.
At Voltec Services, we know that running a successful modern electrical business means balancing more than just the day-to-day. You’re expected to drive growth, protect margins, lead people, keep clients happy, and maintain high standards — all while staying across safety, quality, and the bigger picture. It’s a lot to carry.
But what if you didn’t have to carry it alone? What if you had the full backing of the business owner, a strong operations and field team, and the commercial support you need to focus on leading the business as a whole? A role where your leadership, commercial acumen, and ability to bring people and processes together are genuinely valued?
That role exists — and we’re offering it to you. Join us as General Manager at Voltec Services in Townsville. You’ll oversee the overall performance of the business, lead and develop the team, work closely with clients and stakeholders, and help shape the direction of the company. You’ll have the autonomy to make a real impact, with the support of the business owner behind you.
If you’re ready to step into a leadership role where you can build something meaningful, grow the business, and be recognised for the results you deliver, we’d like to hear from you.
Run Voltec's day-to-day sales and fulfillment system so the business delivers safe, profitable, high-quality work without depending on direct oversight from the director.
Lead major site visits and technical client conversations. Review estimates and tenders. Protect margin, cash and capacity. Escalate opportunities outside agreed value, margin, scope, risk or capacity limits before commitment.

Provide or coordinate technical answers for office and field teams. Build capability in supervisors and technicians rather than becoming the only source of answers.

Build rapport during site visits and tenders. Own material client concerns, variations, disputes and service recovery through a documented resolution.
Maintain regulatory and company standards. Ensure risk assessments, site checks, testing, progress reviews and completion checks are completed and visible.
Use the company scorecard and job information to manage utilisation, margin, quote conversion, schedule risk, client issues and operating performance.
Use Simpro and other approved systems consistently. Improve workflows, reporting and handoffs. Teach the team how to use the system rather than creating workarounds.
Coordinate the operational and sales input needed for agreed marketing activities. Learn and apply Voltec's marketing-spend guardrails.
Strong interpersonal and client-facing capability.
Natural decision-making ability and sound judgment under pressure.
Demonstrated sales and commercial instincts.
