Take hold of a monster opportunity and join Australian Retirement Trust as our General Manager - Commercial Growth. In this enterprise leadership role, you'll shape and deliver national growth strategies, drive member and funds under management growth, lead onboarding for major employer wins, influence key stakeholder relationships, and help position one of Australia's largest superannuation funds for long-term success. This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially minded leader with extensive experience in superannuation, distribution, sales and growth strategy to make a lasting impact on the financial futures of millions of Australians.

Description

We're all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a General Manager - Commercial Growth, you'll hold centralised accountability for sustainably growing Australian Retirement Trust's membership and inflows across customer, stakeholder and distribution channels nationwide.

This is a highly influential executive leadership role where you'll partner closely with senior leaders to define and execute growth strategies that support the organisation's long-term ambitions. You'll lead initiatives that identify new market opportunities, strengthen strategic partnerships, drive sales performance, and ensure successful onboarding and transition of major Corporate and Institutional clients. You'll also provide expert market intelligence, industry trends and emerging opportunities, helping ART stay ahead of market developments while delivering strong commercial and member outcomes.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

  • Partner with executive leaders to develop, execute and govern ART's growth strategy across key distribution and stakeholder channels.
  • Deliver sustainable membership growth and increased funds under management in line with organisational objectives.
  • Lead the identification, qualification and conversion of prospective customers through the entire sales lifecycle.
  • Oversee onboarding and transition activities for major Corporate and Institutional employer wins, ensuring successful delivery against agreed outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create new commercial opportunities.
  • Manage executive‑level engagement and reporting relating to growth pipelines, transitions and Successor Fund Transfers.
  • Drive continuous improvement across onboarding, transition and growth frameworks to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Lead, inspire and develop high‑performing teams while promoting collaboration, innovation and accountability.
Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You hold tertiary qualifications in business, finance or a related discipline.
  • Your extensive experience includes leading sales, growth and client transition teams within financial services.
  • You'll bring deep knowledge of corporate superannuation arrangements and complex client structures.
  • You're highly knowledgeable in superannuation legislation, including Successor Fund Transfers.
  • You have demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise growth strategies.
  • Your experience includes developing high‑performing sales functions and end‑to‑end sales processes.
  • You'll possess strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify, assess and capitalise on market opportunities.
  • You're RG146 compliant and maintain the professional standards required to provide financial product advice.
  • You have experience working with executive leadership teams, boards, regulators and industry stakeholders.
  • You have strong knowledge of the Australian financial services industry, including market trends, customer behaviour and regulatory requirements.
