Job summary

Job description

We are a well-established, multi-site Australian hydraulics and fluid power services business, part of a broader group of specialist industrial companies operating dozens of sites nationally. The business supports customers across mining, agriculture, construction, transport and manufacturing, and has built its name on technical depth and service reliability over many years.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The General Manager is a senior leadership role accountable for the performance, growth and long-term development of an assigned branch, division or portfolio of sites. You will take ownership of local results, translating the business plan into operational delivery, developing your team and strengthening customer relationships. Working collaboratively with leaders and specialist teams across the national business, you will pursue joint opportunities and ensure customers are supported by the people and resources best placed to deliver, driving sustainable growth both locally and nationally.

This role suits a leader who takes ownership of P&L performance and stays closely connected to day-to-day operations. You will be equally comfortable engaging with teams on the branch floor, reviewing commercial forecasts and working with peers to drive growth locally and across the national business.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Delivery of the agreed plan, budget, and performance commitments for your portfolio.

ABOUT YOU

• Substantial leadership experience in multi-site or branch-based operations manufacturing, engineering or industrial services.
• Demonstrated delivery of business plans, budgets and genuine P&L accountability for a branch, division or comparable portfolio.
• Strong commercial acumen, including forecasting, margin, labour, working capital and return-on-capital disciplines.
• Proven ability to improve operational performance, build capability and deliver sustainable growth through structured improvement plans. Strong customer relationship and business development skills, including contract, pricing and tender experience.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across branches and specialist teams, share resources and pursue opportunities that improve customer outcomes and support national growth.
• Effective people leadership, with experience coaching teams and building succession plans.
• Genuine commitment to WHS, environmental and quality management systems.
• Ability to move comfortably between commercial performance, people leadership and operational execution.
